Recently discovered the following bands: Yuck, Ringo Deathstarr and Youth Lagoon. If you like your noise pop heavily influenced by shoegazing/alt rock in the vein of MBV and Dinosaur Jr, then you'll probably love them (I did).

(File next to The Pains of Being Pure At Heart).

Rediscovering Blondie & Dexys at the moment.

O Lucky Stevie!

Before the soundtrack for Blade Runner.

Before Chariots of Fire.

There was... Aphrodite's Child
"We'll send all these nasty words to Aunt Jane. Don't you think that would be fun?"

Splendid... but I'll think I will stick with this : 1977's "Rattus Norvegicus" from the Stranglers.

Just want to see if I can change the direction of this thread a bit. My question is, what music paints a mental image of the type of world Dredd inhabits for you? Obviously it depends on your relative likes and experience of music, but this came in my head after thinking Leftfield's Leftism perfectly captures my own mental image of Neuromancer's world (both favourites).

For me, El-P's kind of urban/dystopian rap works well for MC1 because of the dreamy but gritty sci-fi soundscape he uses as a background. Don't click if you hate rap:

Although I love metal, it doesn't fit into JD in my head. On a similar note, The Mission and Sisters of Mercy remind me of the comic shops I thought were a massively forbidden alternative thrill when my sister let my childish self hang out with her and her goth friends. Anyone remember Nu Earth in York?

Another contender for things that went over your
head?
Or is that thing`s that slipped under the Radar?

Thrillseekers Synaesthesia [1999] [epic trance]

Misanthrope

It's a shame this is already taken.  This would be perfect in any Dredd movie. (which in a way, it was)

One of the reasons I listen to so much industrial-goth/synthpop/ebm/aggrotech is because it feels like sci-fi music to me. Anything with bleeps and bloops in it I call spaceship music when describing it to friends.

Combichrist are by far not my favourite band but their mixture of technology, humour, sleaze and violence make me think of MC-1 all the time.

One track suited for Mega City One would be "Full Metal Jackoff" by Jello Biafra and D.O.A. .
