Val Semeiks drew a Wagner Dredd in prog 1374. Isn't that a misspelling of Semekis, who I presonally, remember as being a Conan artist for the US, which is why I think he's been picked?

That's right, The Savage Sword of Conan, Web of Spider-Man, Wolverine, The Flash and plenty of JLA strips.

And he did Lobo/Dredd after runs on Lobo with Alan Grant.

if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

And it seems that Semeiks is the correct spelling as well.

Pass me those orthopedic boots- It is time to stand corrected...

I just think it's great that 2000AD is taking another step towards (re-)recognition in the US market.

Exactly. It is an excellent move that I heartily approve of.

Schweet! Stevie was a tad concerned about this due to its conspicuously absence from the list reported in the latest Comic Shop News* (distributed  by Diamond & available for free from comic shops).

Unsurpising though given that their only acknowledgement of Tooth in recent years has been the announcement of Romita's Jr's cover for Mega-City Masters vol 2. No piccie though; doubtlessly they needed the column space for Marvel's latest gone-back-to-press-with-a-variant-cover or the resurrection of Richie Rich.

It's main focus does seem to puff pieces for DC, Marvel & Dynamite. Or when they're especially daring, the latest licensing of some piece of tat ephemera that the editors fondly remember from their childhoods (Captain Action anyone?)

We really need a concerted effort of hitting them up with Tooth-related nominations for their annual Red K awards.

*Oddly enough this also ran a feature entitled 10 for 2010, spotlighting their choice of the most significant writers who've contributed to their US-centric perspective of the form over this past year. No prizes for guessing that almost half of this list comprised of peeps who cut their chops for the House of Tharg. You honestly don't need Stevie to tell you Morrison, Millar, Ennis & Moore were all present now do you?  ;)

COMMANDO FORCES

Just put my order in at the comic shop. Graham mentioned that he wanted to know how many I would like as it costs him to buy them (well I never), I asked how much it costs him and he said 24p a prog. In fact every comic on 'Free Comic Book Day' costs him, obviously not a lot but it all adds up for an independent like him.

Anyway, my order is in and let's just hope he can get the amount I requested (I am paying, it's only fair). So if any of you lot who live in the sticks find it hard to get a copy and really need one, I shall be giving a few away, if I get my total  ;)

John, keep one for me if you get enough. Cheers

Bleeding Cool did a series of reports across the UK which might give you a taste of what might be going on this year:

London:

Manchester:

Lancaster:

Newcastle:

Uh... hate to be pedantic (honest!) but that's not really 'across the UK', unless 'the UK' consists entirely of England!
:)
What about Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales- anyone know of anything?
Just a little rough and tumble, Judge man.

Good stuff. So I'll ask the obvious question (which I think I know the answer to) how much is reprint and is any original material included?

James Stacey

you can flick through a select amount of pages on the freecomicday website. It's all reprint I think.
