Received my copy of the revised and expanded edition of Thrill-Power Overload: 2000AD - The First Forty Years today.

First impressions are, in line with a lot of recent Rebellion products, this is a very handsome volume. Fabulous end papers (not going to say what they are, will leave it as a surprise for everyone else, but I was very pleased by them), there's a lovely appendix with all the 2000AD logos over the years (and the covers they first appeared on) as well as a reprint of 'Tharg's Interludes' from Prog 2000. The book is divided into decades (70s, 80s, 90s & Beyond 2000) with each section colour-coded on the page edges with is a really nice touch. Haven't had time to look at any of the text yet but if the presentation is anything to go by it's gonna be zarjaz!

Oh, and it's a hefty weight as well. :D

Amazon have been pretty crappy in dispatching a lot of stuff recently.  Mine is allegedly due to arrive next week.

Bit better than the UFO volume which arrive a couple of months later than originally due.

I have the original hardback so I couldn't justify paying full price for this one. I might pick it up on digital though.

I have as well but my copy is showing a bit of stitching wear surprisingly enough.  Nothing major just a bit loose in places.    :o

My copy was an Amazon purchase. I only ordered it on Feb 3rd. (Please don't hate me. :()

On the other hand, my copy of 2000 AD's Greatest: Celebrating 40 Years of Thrill-Power!, which I ordered on January 7th, isn't due to arrive until the 14th, despite being despatched today apparently, even though I have Prime delivery.  :-\

Just checked and mine is on its way.  That said, it's scheduled for Sunday delivery despite being a prime order as well.  Will see what happens and then quibble with them if it does turn up then.

If you're very lucky. Recently, I had a Prime order hurled over our fence. The response from customer support was that I didn't check an alternate delivery option at checkout, ignoring my point I was in at the time. We also have had a few late Prime orders, and they really don't give a shit these days.

It turned up yesterday so they get it in the next day as they should have.  Had a quick look and comparison with the Thirty years edition.  Smaller, more compact, looks like a smaller font and no dustcover.  Subtle differences in terms of images.  The last paragraph or so from the first edition in 2007 has been changed and the rest is new material that was printed in the meg and I've studiously ignored to date but now will sit down to read properly.  Also it includes the prog 2000 Tharg retrospective instead of the Ron Smith piece included in the first edition.

Each section is colour coded so it is easier to navigate to key sections.  Overall a nice edition and I'm more than happy to have double dipped.  It would have been nice to include more pages from the dummy edition and perhaps the touted Dredd comic as a 'what might have been'.  I understand that some of them are still around.  That's just me being pedantic though.

We've had worse locally (a Royal Mail employee actually destroyed our letterbox and when confronted yelled so loud at me to "fuck off" that people across the street were startled), but I've never actually been blamed before by customer services for such 'service'. I was quite taken aback. But, well, Amazon. (This is also why I'm happier buying books from Wordery these days if I don't go direct to the publisher – they actually seem to give a crap.)
