By foot from Picadilly to Event City your looking at the best part of 2 hours, if you don't know the area it could literally take you all day. Frequent bus service is available as well as a direct tram line (DDD could possibly confirm if that's still in use in that area, I believe certain lines where disconnected last year). My best advice though would just be to grab a taxi, 15 minute drive tops and charges aren't that extortionate.

nice one, cheers, before my back went I would've walked but now it aint an option(just realised its nearly a year since I got knackereder-happy birthday prolapse!)

Event City is by the Trafford Centre - there's no tram but there's a 250 or X50 bus from Piccadilly Gardens to the Trafford Centre (via my house!) : http://www.eventcity.co.uk/getting-here/

I was lucky to win Commando Forces' copy of America signed by many many droids, but there's a big Ezquerra shaped hole in the list, so I reckon I might come along to this

Grugz

hmmm, I could persuade the wife she needs to go shopping while I scoot over...

I got my apocalypse war signed by john and carlos and a little dredd head as well but as I said couldn't chat to carlos as the bloke in front had about a dozen books to sign and carlos looked a little jet lagged.

I'm stuck in work today - was thinking of popping down tomorrow but I've got too much to do

COMMANDO FORCES

Having seen a few posts on facebook from this event, including from John and Carlos, it looked rather badly attended.
Did anyone from here go and what was your experience of the convention?

Hawkmumbler

Sadly I could not make it, I was in Oban this weekend. Shame, I might try and make it next year though...

Grugz

aye, must try to get there next time... the mcm cons seem a little too geared towards the manga cosplay crowd with loads of student types running round as diverse Japanese characters.

That's a shame - I should've gone to bump up the numbers!

I think two reasons could be that it was at an edge-of town conference centre next to the Trafford Centre shopping mall, whwre there's nothing but motorways and industrial units, rather than at the G-mex (now aptly renamed Manchester Central - this is where the MGN cons take place and they are always packed out); secondly as I mentioned above, a lot of of the well-known names pulled out so that would have affected sales.

I went there this year , and met Wagner and Ezquerra , and bought Rok of the Reds and an autographed Poster - and got my copy of Darkies Mob autographed -
I travelled from the Scottish Borders by train , and stayed in a Premier Inn at the Trafford Centre
Event City was a great venue , but you had to research , on the ground , the best way to get there
( on the covered walk way at Barton crescent ) - the thing about the area is that it is so HUGE you take 1/2 hour to walk there from the Hotel - and very busy with a lot of people
I would recommend to anyone , that its well worth going to it
