Bleeding Cool is running an article about the possible return of Deadline.

Though quite how related to the original this will be is still not too clear. Interesting one to watch.

Wellwellwellwellwell!!! This could either be rather brilliant or a slight miss fire, seeing as Deadline was a bit before my time (I was 1 when it got axed, feel old chaps?) but it was basically the hybrid of 2000AD and Kerrang! i've always wanted and dreamed of, so i'll be giving my money's worth and let's see how it goes!

Maybe more Warrior and Select? It was very unKerrang I'd say.

Herm, was it now? Thats just word of mouth as I say, long before my time. Where there any other comic book and music orientated antologies on the market? I've never heard of Select before....

EDIT: And no wonder why! Another music mag that went under before my time, but was probably very much in many readers circles.

Given that the original Deadline never made a penny in profit in its entire run, this would seem to be a bold move...

What are you on about? That was Jamie Hewlett's best work.

Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

A1 got re-launched about ten years after the original run (by a different company and presumably with no involvement from the original editors other than the brand).  Can't remember how long it ran for, but I don't think it was long...

Dunk!

Having looked at the their FB page bar the word Deadline in its title does this new creation have anything to do with the old Deadline?

Or is it another Bleeding Cool non-story?

A magazine layout in RGB using Photoshop and seemingly without bleed...? That's not going to end well.

Deadline was very much of its time. I'm doubtful that there is a pent up demand for its return.

IMHO Deadline was at the opposite end of the cool chart/scale/spectrum from Kerrang!: Tank Girl, Wired World are the only two I remember of the top of my head, and even that could be misremembered!
I enjoyed it at the time, but it was very much of its time.

Things do go in cycles so perhaps someone decided to gamble on the old nostalgia effect. Print rather than digital? I assume both versions will be available but it is a risk. Wonder who it could be behind it? Must be some big names, some brave start up group or some comic fan with deep pockets. Still any new comic gets my vote so Viva Deadline!

Haha. I had much the same thought. If you're setting type in Photoshop then you're Doing It Wrong.

Cheers!
