My 25th episode and David Bish-op himself is my special guest to discuss Thrill-Power Overload just in time for the publication of the updated 40 years version.

'STOP THIS UNSPEAKABLE PRACTICE'

Gold, Eamonn. Well done for asking the third person question, which must have bugged everyone who's ever read that book.

Adam Murdough from the American podcast Comic Geek Speak brings another Alan Moore classic to the book club. Plug in your earbuds and make sure to Mind the oranges, Marlon!

Overcoming last week's technical glitch with some bonus audio recorded at the 40th festival. Several droids and fans tell me their favourite moments from 40 glorious years.

Listen in.

I persuaded art-droid Mark Sexton to join me in that London pub to discuss an absolutely essential piece of British comics history, Charley's War. Despite me constantly mis-pronouncing Joe Colquhoun's name it was a fascinating discussion.

Listen in and let us know.

I just listened to episodes 27 & 28 - great stuff! You interviewed some real talents at the 40th and (not surprisingly) the Dead Man seemed to be a favorite. I have also been reading Charley's War lately and finished reading v2 just a few weeks ago, so this podcast was good timing - vol.1 is good but vol.2 is brilliant and captures so many of the great moments you two discussed (poor Ginger).

I look forward to the next episode!

Cheers. It's Nemesis: The Gothic Empire next week
and recorded a long episode with Pete Wells last night about the Art of Judge Dredd book

Book IV was the first complete Nemesis book I ever read (Book III was the first one I read, but I didn't manage to fill in the gaps in my back progs until way after Gothic Empire had finished).

Not listened to it yet, but does Joe's surname get pronounced correctly in the current podcast?  Despite having first read bits of Charlie's War back in the early eighties, I have no idea how it should be pronounced.

Tony Angelino

I dont think it is pronounced correctly in the podcast. I always thought it was pronounced "Ka Hoon" of Cahoon. I know Pat Mills has said it in some of the ECBT podcasts but I cant remember what way he said it.

Eamonn Clarke

Yeah, I think it should be Col or Cal-hoon, and not Col-koon as I kept saying. Apologies, Joe

CrazyFoxMachine

Nice Charley's War one that, despite the pubnoise! I too have visions of Uncle Pat 'stabbing at the typewriter and muttering loudly to himself'

Tony Angelino

Yes it was a great podcast. I read the story as a kid and the part with
Ginger
that is described in the podcast is one of those bits that have always stayed with me. Its always one of the bits that people bring up in a comic strip that is full of similar moments.

I don't think I had ever read anything like it at the time.  Very shocking yet also understated and matter-of-fact.
