Very cool news story over at Bleeding Cool

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/01/28/brazil-now-has-its-own-judge-dredd-megazine-and-its-damn-magnetic-for-readers/

Seems material from The Galaxy Greatest is going down well in Brazil. Given that Bleeding Cool ran an article saying that Brazil's biggest title regularly shifts 400,000ish copies that's a big old market to break into. Now of course it seems safe to bet that Juiz Dredd ain't shifting close to those number but this is got to be very good news.

Well done all concerned.

Something I picked up on Holidays, Juiz Dredd is available in Portugal. It's a hefty collection, 384 pages, mostly in colour collecting various Dredd, Sláine, Dante, Grey Area and Future Shocks tales, it cost just €5!

Juiz Dredd Megazine oficialmente cancelada
POR ACOYSHUJO 21 DE AGOSTO DE 2015
This publication comes with much regret to report that, with the low sales, monthly Judge Dredd Megazine was officially discontinued by Mythos Publisher.

Between 2004 and 2013 the Judge Dredd got away from Brazilian stalls, as well as any other publication of 2000 AD. The first edition of Judge Dredd Megazine was also published in 2013, and with great sadness, the magazine will be closed in issue 24.

The reason for cancellation are the low sales. The magazine no longer sells as at the beginning, especially the latest editions released this year. Factors influencing this decline in sales are diverse, as saturation by other publications, lack of public interest in alternative materials published in banking (off-axis of American publishers like DC and Marvel), etc.

The 2000 AD Brazil came in April 2014 as an attempt to increase the dissemination of publications from 2000 AD, well ... in Brazil. Below, check out an interview with Pedro Bouça, the assistant editor and translator of magazines and bound, responsible for encouraging the creation of this blog and collaborate with information for news.

2000 AD Brazil: Peter, we know that the magazine was canceled because of low sales. How long this drop in sales has been noted by the publisher?

Pedro Bouça: I do not deal directly with sales, but it's been a year since the Mythos personnel have told me that they were falling dangerously. We try to reverse the situation, but unfortunately did not. The combination of economic crisis with violent competition in stalls too much for a relatively obscure journal like ours.

What is the most hopeful possibility for Dredd continue in Brazil? What should be done?

For the magazine itself back, now only if there is a miracle and the economic crisis is reversing. Mythos is thinking of continuing Dredd itself in bound, but this will depend a lot of Bound results Death Judge, coming out in the coming days.

If at first imagine what the public think about the magazine, I would have changed anything? What?

It wasn't the first time 2000 AD comics were published in Brazil. In 1979 EBAL, a old Brazilian publishing house, published 10 issues of "Ano 2000" (2000 Year) between february and november of that year.
