The completely self absorbed making of comic porn thread

Well as some of you might be aware I moved house recently, in doing so I took apart my lovely nerd collection that used to reside in our attic looking a little like this, but documented better else were.

So what the heck is the fate of my pride and joy I hear you cry. Well that is precisely the purpose of this thread. Here in an inexcusably self indulgent reportage I will show you how I transform the 'hobbies' room at the back of our garage from this

To what I hope will be a man cave fit for... well fit for CBR's Comic Porn feature, that's the aim anyway, but that will come in time. Why should you be interested in such nonsense I hear you cry (again), well the title says it all really, its not about you, its about me. Personally if I was you I'd ignore this thread but blathering uninteresting guff full of spelling and grammar mistakes is kinda my specialty around here so I'm going to keep going. After all people seem to find the holiday munching of one board member, who is admittedly far more entertaining that me, endlessly entertaining so why the heck not. There's a host of photos of the progress made to date just around the corner and from then as I get more done I'll post more.

It'll be no match for CF's Cellar but if you want to see the creation of some comic porn this is the thread for you... well at least til I get bored of it all. Its kinda like a 'Reader Wives' making of DVD extra for nerds. If that billing doesn't suck you in I don't know what will!

Oh man, pass the tissues*, this is going to get good.

*For dusting off the the mylar, you filthy sods.

Yeah, I've always liked the way you have your Progs stored like that Colin. Looking forward to your progress.
We never really die.

SuperSurfer

Good luck with it Colin. Look forward to seeing how it progresses.

I lost my beautiful man cave almost a year ago. We are about to move very soon and my new one will be tiny so I need to work out what to do with it. But on the big plus side we are going from flat to house (via living at my mother's house for almost a year).

Skullmo

How come everyone else's houses look so much less messy!
It's a joke. I was joking.

Trout

Love this. I hope to start my own thread just like it one day. Well done sir!

Mabs

'man cave'!  :D

I wish I had as much space as you Colin, I have to resort with storing all my extra 'porn' in every nook and cranny I can find!

WHAT?  Are you crazy?  Of course we are interested.  Get as many photos up as you can, I can look at this stuff all day.

Looking forward to see how this progresses.  Not only do you have an impressive collection you also appreciate the need for tidyness and organisation.

God, all my progs sit in a plastic box that is simply terrible storage but I have little place else to put it.

I am envious.

Well you are all just lovely. I'm stunned by the outpouring of enthusiasm for my original post. Enthusiasm I'm sure I will beat out of you all as I babble on about such matters as the ethical consideration of splitting your Barry Allen (pre-Crisis of course) Flash comics from your superior Wally West collection. People can get so distracted by so called important matters like politics and such like. Basically its cos I thing they are all emotionally subnormal (see you Alan) and can't face the difficult decisions life throws at them. I mean anyone can sit and ponder the rights and wrongs of Scotish independence (know your audience Taylor) but how many are prepared to face the tough questions like do you dig your spidey comics out their boxes to put them on display and if you do what does back in the cupboard. Its good to know here I'm amongst people who understand the real hard issues that life puts in front of us and are there to support.

Before I get to my first dilemma, oh and its here already, it really is, here's a little more of the foreplay as I got the room into shape.

About a week ago I did this

I'd like to make clear that I sorted my 2000ad as a priority not simply to pander to my audience here, as I say this is all about me not you, rather it was for simple practical reasons. In doing this I could shift a LOT of boxes very quickly and easily without any real decisions needing to be made... or so I naively thought, I will return to this. I also started to shift a load of the crap that was in there, you know the clutter you unearth when moving, my wife's favourite guitar, children's long loved toys and clothes, food (what the hell two boxes of food was doing in there I'll never know!) all that stuff that does not belong in a man cave.

This led to the single most important point of my journey, which I will so you next time.

If you don't sort out that skirting-board issue and soon this is going to be a very aggravating thread for a certain type of boarder.

von Boom

Oooh. Very nice indeed. I wish I had enough space to show off my comics, but they're bagged and boarded in boxes that rarely see the light of day. Sigh. I'm glad someone is able to give them their proper due.

Okay now I'm not one to worry about exposing my ignorance too much, which many would say is a good job BUT do I have a skirting-board issue? Oh God I have an issue and I'm not even sure what it is, or for that matter that you could have such an issue. I always thought skirting-board was a pretty straightforward thing. You either have it = all good or you don't = get some skirting-board. Is there levels of skirting-board or some such... is it like spines does it have to be even... is mine not... I don't really pay it any attention! Do I need help. Is there something wrong with my skirting-board... is it not... shirting enough... some one help an ill informed boarder ignorant in the way of the skirting-board...
