Hi everyone!

I'm bad at both promotion and forums, but thought I'd post a little bit about the Daily Dredd blog I've been updating for the last little while. Basically I'm just using this Case Files and going through Judge Dredd one prog ever day.

I've just reached Prog 100, so seemed a good as time as any to spread the word a little bit more. As I say I'm the About page of the blog, I'm very new to the 2000AD universe and comics in general. Grateful for any feedback or thoughts!

You can find it at dailydredd.wordpress.com.

Thanks!
Liam

I read it daily and if you lot aren't you should its great fun and a delight to here the thoughts of someone not immersed in the strip for years like us.

A great read! Very enjoyable. My own first expierience of classic Dredd was via the Case Files - it's a great way to encounter the material.

Just read the first couple of dozen and it's very enjoyable - suitably brief but full of nice insights. Favourite quotes so far include:
"Judge Dredd to Maria: "Throw this ferret-faced parasite out before I drown you in your minestrone."
I don't even know where to begin with that line, but nothing in the previous 3 issues prepared me for it."

Thanks everyone! My favourite bit of (completely unplanned!) synchronicity was Prog #68 and the story of Bad Bob Booth being posted on the day a certain election took place...

As well as Origins, there's another telling of Booth starting the war in Fog on The Eerie (progs 1037-1040, reprinted in Casefile 26 and the "Hunting Party" trade).

And it's not really surprising that the cursed earth farmers didn't know anything about Booth's fate - you refer to them as "citizens" but they were among the poor schmucks who weren't mega-citizens and would've been scratching for survival in a radioactive wasteland for the past 30 years.

So I've just wrapped up The Day the Law Died, and will be having a bit of a break from regular progs until mid-January. You can read my Final Judgement post here: https://dailydredd.wordpress.com/2016/12/14/final-judgement-the-day-the-law-died/.

For the next six days I'm going to post entries on some of the Annuals and Specials. They are certainly... interesting!

Vernoona

Entries for the first six of the Annuals and Specials from the Restricted Files are now up! https://dailydredd.wordpress.com/category/2000ad/annuals-specials-1977-1986/

They're certainly a weird bunch - and a strange way to end the year! I hope people have been enjoying the posts, and I'm looking forward to starting up again in 2017 after a bit of a break.

Dark Jimbo

Loving these write-ups, fella! See you in 2017.

Yes - early annuals weren't like the weekly strips, to say the least...

Vernoona

Happy 2017 everyone!

The blog is back up and running today with Prog #110 - Punks Rule.

https://dailydredd.wordpress.com/2017/01/12/prog-110-ive-come-to-collect-the-garbage-punks-rule/

I don't know if this might be helpful, but I also put together a quick "Index" page that has a simple list of each post. https://dailydredd.wordpress.com/case-files-index/

I'm looking forward to keeping up with this daily project. A quick plan ahead I did looks like I'll be at about Prog #430 by the end of the year. What do people suggest I have to look forward to between now and then?

Oh blimey! Pure gold, that's what!

Judge Death, Judge Anderson, the Judge Child epic, the Angel Gang, Chopper, the Dark Judges, the Apocalypse War, Cry of the Werewolf, the Graveyard Shift, Requiem for a Heavyweight, Citizen Snork, Haunting of Sector House 9, the Midnight Surfer, the Hunter's Club and the beginnings of Dredd's doubts about the system he enforces...

So... not a lot then? What a shame.

In all seriousness, sounds very exciting! The only one I've read previously is the Apocalypse War (which came out pretty early in the Mega Collection), so I've got a lot of new discoveries ahead!

Vernoona - you are in for such a treat! I just began reading Dredd (Case Files) last year, and believe me these are some of the best stories you will ever read! I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

There are the obvious big stories to look forward to like the Dark Judges and the Apocalypse War, but some of my favorites are the off-beat stories that focus on the citizens of MC1 such as Requiem for a Heavyweight and the Hunter's Club (and Chopper stories are always fantastic).

Cry of the Werewolf is another to pay special attention to with the recent passing of Steve Dillon. IDW will be releasing a special re-print of the story as well as a 'what-if' twist on the story in March as well (http://comicsalliance.com/idw-judge-dredd-cry-of-the-werewolf-tribute-steve-dillon-hero-initiative/).
