Hi all,

I've been trying to find out a bit more about this and I'm not sure it even exists....

For the Revolver Comic, there where the 7 basic issues.

The Romance Special and The Horror Special.

I've also heard, although can't remember where now about an Xpresso Special as well.

So if anyone has one spare I'd be interested.

Cheers

The reason you may not be able to find it, is because it was published as:

Crisis Presents No. 3: The Second Xpresso Special: The Best of International Strip Art.

Cover by John Bolton ("Black Coffee in Bed"- wurgh, dodgy strapline alert. Especially over a painting of a seemingly one-armed black girl adopting a porno pose)

1991.

I'm as confused as anyone about the "no 3/ second Xpresso special" bit. I've always assumed that due to the merging of Revolver and Crisis, it simply follows the two you mentioned. I've never seen a first Xpresso special, anyway.

As i say, i THINK it refers to the two revolver specials you mentioned, and that xpresso is just number three, and the last thank grud.

That doesnt explain the 'second xpresso' in the title though, unless the romance one was the first- i forget, and the comic's not to hand. Someone will be along shortly to crush my dreams and tell me there are twelve of the bastard things and all go for £25+ each.

There's another one with a fandango dancing couple on the cover if i recall corerctly?

Here are the Titles, very confusing.

Crisis presents 1 the revolver Romance Special, with a Bolland cover, nearly all new content
Crisis presents 2 the Expresso special, with a Manara cover, mostly European reprints, A sean Philips and Rachel Ball new story.
Crisis presents 3 the second Expresso Special, with a John Bolton Cover and a mis of new and reprinted European material
Revolver special 1 Revolver, The Horror special.  Bolton Cover, new content.

Hang on, yes, i do remember there being a manara cover one. Where the hell did that go? :/  Argh.
And while i have you here David, was there ever a second issue of shaky kane's 'blackstar fiction library' in the uk? And, seeing as you tend to know such things, what about a second issue of kev f sutherland's 'bloody hell' uk newsagent comic?

Dont know bout Bloddy Hell SBT, never heard of it, I read Viz for a while, but never strayed to the copycats, as this seems to be.
I can only find issue one of the Blackstar fiction, Im pretty sure that I have an issue two somewhere, but I cant lay my hands on it. Tinternet suggests there was a number two as well, If I find it, I will stick a scan up.

Bloody Hell wasn't so much a "Viz copycat", as an attempt to do a UK black and white horror comic (Scream for grown-ups?). It was newsprint, and I guess published by the Sport, because the back pages were chocka with adverts for tits. Kev F Sutherland was the main draw, from memory, and as much as I like his work I don't think his art lends itself to horror particularly well. My copy is buried upstairs at the moment, and my wife's in bed so I can't dig it out. When I do, I'll let you know.  As for the second BSPL- I've seen a copy advertised in the states, but with the same cover as issue one, so I don't know if this is a specific US edition, a mistake, or what.

And Large- re the Marshal Laws, when herself gets up I'll go see what I have in that department.

Right, i have five comics in addition to the proper Toxic! run. They are:

Toxic! presents Marshal Law #1. (no date, 1990?) reprints kingdom of the blind.

Marshal Law #2: Takes Manhattan. (March 1991)

Apocalypse Presents #3: Accident Man. (June 1991) reprints first mills/edmond run from Toxic! weekly.

Apocalypse Presents #4: Bogie Man (July 1991). Reprints The Chinese Syndrome.

Apocalypse Presents #5: Accident Man book two. (Aug 1991) reprints the second mills/mighten run.

And that's it, as far as im aware.

Has anyone got the u.s continuations of accident man, sex warrior and (i think) brats bizarre (?) that were published independently after Toxic! collapsed? I have sundry few somewhere, but no idea how many were published.

I've got the Accident Man comics that were done by Dark Horse (I think), but I can remember nowt else apart from the covers being by Howard Chaykin...
