Aaaaaand the votes are in, counted and verified by a team of highly trained shitpots for the 2014 Message Board Cover of the Year! Let's crack on and see the results in reverse order...

In FIFTH place, the Legal Eagle himself, Prog 1909's amazing study of the Justice Department eagle by Cliff Robinson and Dylan Teague.

You can see the making of that cover here:  http://2000adcovers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/cliff-robinson-and-dylan-teague-legal.html

In FOURTH place, Greg Staples' brilliant Viper Strike painting of PROG 1908.  This amazing image highlights this droid's stellar painting skills as Dredd carries out a summary execution...

In THIRD place, with the only non-Dredd cover of the vote, I'm delighted to say that Alex  Ronald romped in this glorious Ulysses Sweet cover of Prog 1869:

In SECOND place, for the third year in a row, is the magnificent spectacle that is Chris Weston's Sensitive Klegg cover of PROG 1889. Sheer brilliance...

Finally, the undisputed WINNER, as if there was ever any doubt, this year's cover of the year, as voted by you, is GREG STAPLES' absolutely iconic masterpiece that was PROG 1900, yaaaay!!!

So congratulations to Greg on a well deserved win, and to all who were placed in the top 5. Congratulations too, to all the artists who graced the cover of the Galaxy's Greatest this year, what an honour!

Thanks to everyone that voted, you're all toppers! No go vote for the Megazine cover here:

Well done to Greg and all the artists who have entertained us this last year.

As ever seems to be the case my votes seem to totally miss the mark (see recent Prog threads as well!). Lovely pieces of art all around with those placing pieces, just lovely.

As is Pete, a true treasure to 2000ad fandom. Thank you for all your efforts sir.

Thank goodness 1900 took its rightful place  :)
One thing the vote does is remind artists (and their guiding alien hand) that lower-placing covers still found an appreciative audience.
Thanks Pete (and for throwing up previous years too).

Good year for covers and a deserving top three. This in no sense diminishes the work the other artists, who truely constitute the lifeblood of the prog. After the events in Paris, it fully brought home to me how valuable a medium it is, that these people work in. Many thanks to Pete Wells for his superhuman efforts in this competition. Z

Much appreciated vote countery there Mr Wells - what an amazing batch of covers this year. Mr Staples and Mr Ronald were verily killing it on a regular basis. Makes me psyched for covers to come!

TordelBack

Always a great event, many thanks to Pete for all his hard work, and to all the artists for such a great year of shelf candy.

Hey fellas, had a couple of nice messages today, firstly from a Mr G Staples, who said "Just wanted to say a big thank you, winning certainly makes me drive to want to out do what has come before! I'm unable to post on the forum for some reason so please do give my thanks to all who voted. Thanks again!"

And Mr Weston got in touch to humbly say " I think the best cover won, and I'm delighted to even make the list! Next year, however, I will destroy all opposition!"

And finally Alex said "Rubbing shoulders with Greg, Chris, Cliff and Dylan! That's a wee triumph in itself!"

Sounds good to me!

Thanks Pete! As always, a great event! Nice to see the feedback from the winners there.

Now, how I am going to vote for the Megazine covers then...

I'm scared now as to what Mr Weston will come up with and we all know he'll come up with another masterpiece, just to destroy the opposition!
